Why do leaders want a coach?
Leaders come to coaching for a variety of reasons. Often a leader recognizes that his or her leadership skills need to improve. Sometimes that realization comes from feedback or a nudge from a trusted colleague. Regardless of why a leader embarks on the coaching journey, the common results are:
- You gain a trusted partner invested in your success
- You learn more about yourself, the strengths that got you to where you are and the blindspots that might be inhibiting your future
- You get thinking time, time for reflection and planning that otherwise is elusive in your schedule
- You learn new skills and strategies that make you a much better leader
- You get clarity on your leadership and team priorities
- You dig into how to successfully implement your goals and department actions
- You learn how to manage up and participate successfully at the senior leadership table
