The next-level approach
to performance
Early on in my career, a very clear and simple way of working with my clients emerged. I could see that the first element that provided great benefit to leaders was eye-opening insights and awareness into themselves. This realization uncovered their blind spots that, when managed well, allowed the leader to powerfully elevate their performance.
The second element that provided leaders with further insights was to really get to know the people around them: direct reports, peers and supervisors. Their appreciation and acknowledgement of each others’ skills, strengths and values provided enhanced relationship and team engagement. These changes immediately resulted in higher team performance.
The third element was identifying what skills, tools and strategies leaders needed to refresh or learn in order to elevate their leadership skill set.
Hence the framework: Know Yourself, Know Others, Know HowTM was born.
While this framework originated from my coaching, it has become a mantra for all my work and my life. More importantly my clients have benefited from using this approach and have been left with a simple tool they can apply in so many of their challenging situations.
Overlaying this template is my number one belief about leadership – communication is king! One of my senior leaders once opened our coaching session with the comment, “I finally get it. My job as a leader is to communicate!” Yes it is.

About Nancy Loraas
I have been involved in business and leadership throughout my life. Growing up with entrepreneurial parents provided daily lessons on how to make a business work. My Dad’s success in business dictated the life we would lead. It wasn’t an option to be mediocre. In fact, this early exposure to business is what led me to pursue a degree in Finance and subsequently an MBA.
I was fortunate to have great corporate careers in finance and Investor Relations largely in the resource industry. Investor Relations required close work with senior leadership teams, positioning me well for the work I do now.
The one theme that carried through the twists and turns of my life was my fascination for communication. As I looked to shift the focus of my work away from Investor Relations, it is no surprise that I gravitated to coaching both individual leaders and teams, facilitation, mediation and speaking. I have been able to build on my business foundation and support leaders and teams in achieving their desired results. My passion for and focus on communication will result in game changing performanceTM.
